Student Board Roles and Responsibilities
ENTIRE BOARD
All Board members are expected to:

Attend meetings every week at 11am each Sunday of the semester.

Attend Shabbat and Holiday meals (dinner and/or lunch) at Chabad on a regular basis.

Positively and actively promote Chabad’s programming to all Jewish students on campus.

Actively recruit Jewish students to Shabbat dinners, holiday dinners and Chabad events and to the degree possible, be a welcoming face to all students attending Chabad events.
PRESIDENT
The President shall be responsible for:

Calling and leading all meetings, preparing and distributing meeting agenda to all board members, as well as putting forth ideas and implementing them.

Developing and maintaining relationships with the College’s administration / academic advisor.

Allocating tasks to Board members to ensure that all events are prepared adequately.

Supervising board members, stepping in to assist as necessary.

Managing all Board conflicts and seeking constant feedback regarding Board progress.

Learning the roles and responsibilities in conjunction with the Vice President & Secretary in order to review them with the board at the first board meeting of the semester.
VICE PRESIDENT
Vice President shall be responsible for:

Assist the President in fulfilling the President's responsibilities and lead board meetings in the President’s absence.

Upholding any executive board positions that are not fulfilled.

Constantly reach out to Jews on campus and encourage them to come to Chabad.

Learning the roles and responsibilities in conjunction with the President & Secretary in order to review them with the board at the first board meeting of the semester.
SECRETARY
Secretary shall be responsible for:
-
Excellent attendance in board meetings
-
Writing meeting minutes; distributing these minutes via email to all board members up to 24 hours after meeting.

Keeping attendance at meetings and follow up with students who are absent on a recurring basis.

Learning roles and responsibilities with the President & Vice President in order to review them with the board at the first board meeting of the semester.
TREASURER
Treasurer shall be responsible for:
-
Preparing and submitting all funding documentation and requests to Cornell ON TIME.

Updating board about the funding and account balance.
-
Having focused and timely meetings about budget requests with Rabbi Dovid and other relevant board members in order to submit budget requests.
-
Making sure to spend money and pay honorariums in a timely fashion.
GENERAL BOARD
General Board Members serve for a full year starting in the spring. For freshmen joining in the fall of a given year, they will serve one semester and then can reapply for a full year beginning in the spring of the next year.
General Board Members are expected to:

Attend Shabbat & Holiday meals and where possible, be helpful in setting up and welcoming students.

Volunteer in either:
-
A) Challah Baking Event (1 per semester), or
-
B) The other major semester event (TBD) - like Purim party, major social event, or philanthropy - changes every semester.
